Turn ANYONE into a Die-Hard MUSIC FAN the EASY way! (No Sweat Method)

As an artist, you need fans—lots of them—to survive in this industry. The process of building a fanbase can seem overwhelming and confusing. Many of you have shared these concerns with me. But if you want to make growing your fanbase simple and straightforward, tune in!

Curiosity is the ultimate bait

Here's why your fanbase isn't growing: you're not making people curious enough! Curiosity is the entry point to your music and brand experience. Think of it like this—if your front door looks inviting, potential fans are more likely to step inside and stay awhile. Even if you haven't figured out the next steps, getting this first part right is crucial. You need to maintain that high level of curiosity because without it, converting listeners into active fans becomes an uphill battle. Master this skill, though, and you'll see your music journey transform for the better.

Infatuation is the door to the soul of the music fan.

The biggest key that most people in the music industry can't figure out is: once you've got them curious, what's the next step? Some may call this having an affinity, but I call it getting them infatuated with you. Getting people emotionally attached means you've moved them energetically to a new mental, physical, or spiritual space—and now they crave more of that energetic movement. Unfortunately, we can't just oversaturate them with music. Once they're in the front door and sitting down, we have to give them a menu that tells them more about us and what we do here. They want to integrate you into their lives much more than before—you just have to let them know how and why by sharing who you are. What did your team do to get you here business-wise? What did you learn to get to this level talent-wise? What did you have to overcome personality-wise to reach this point? Increasing infatuation reels people in like fish, but be careful not to let them off the hook until you've pulled them into the bucket.

Getting them to pledge allegiance to your cause is the ultimate goal.

If you make it to level 3 of the fan pyramid, you'll notice fans subconsciously want to be part of a group that represents something they can be loyal to. In this case, they want to pledge allegiance to you. This may scare you at first, but you'll become comfortable with it over time. The fans begin to form a lasting bond with you, becoming part of their identity. They begin to support your personality, values, and cultural impact. Your fans are now willing to invest both financially (e.g., buying merchandise, attending concerts) and emotionally, often becoming advocates who share your work with others. Let it happen naturally. Let it flow freely and don't resist it—these people are the keys to your survival in this game.

I’m stuck at the visual part. How do I make them more curious?

Your visual needs to match the targeted emotion and energy that inspired the song. If there's a mismatch between the visual's energy and the song's energy, you'll lose people at the first gateway.

I don’t really like talking about myself I think the music does enough!

You may not like talking about yourself, but your fans need and crave it. Keep your stories and narratives focused on personal wins, talent wins, and business wins—you'll be fine. If you don't share these stories, you'll have to push your music much harder, and it's way more expensive than the approach mentioned before.

But how do we get the loyal fans though?

Keep the music and stories flowing to keep them warm, but make sure you give them experiences that allow them to interact with you. Once you do this, they'll scream your name from the mountaintops. Building systems to support fans takes time—it can't be done overnight—but you must continue building the path for the fan journey if you want to see your career flourish.

Winning Results

  2. More leverage creates infatuated fans which creates more internal speed by default

  3. More speed gets you to your destination faster

Cost of Loss

  1. Not mastering the curiosity stage prevents forward movement. If you move past this point because you’re anxious.

  2. Discouragement may set in due to the fact that people may start to like you more than you music.

  3. This leads to a mental battle of do I just do whatever to get attention or do I continue to sharpen my music skills.

If you've been struggling with Curiosity, Infatuation, or Allegiance, you now have the means to become the fan-centric artist you've always wanted to be.
